The Ultimate Choice for Kitchen Worktops: A Case Study from Scole, Norfolk
Choosing the perfect work surface for your kitchen can feel overwhelming—with materials like oak, laminate, quartz and granite to consider, not to mention an endless choice of finishes. Each option has its own benefits, which is why at House to Home, we start with a thorough consultation to understand your needs and vision.
For one recent project in Norfolk, the client’s brief was clear: they wanted a worktop that was both durable and aesthetically beautiful, with a strong focus on a sleek, seamless design. Enter, Dekton; an engineered stone that combines the best features of marble and quartz, offering the same luxurious look but with added durability. After seeing Dekton in our Stuston showroom, our client fell in love with the ‘Awake’ finish, opting for it on both the worktops and splashback.

Why did we recommend Dekton for this project?
Exceptional Durability
Dekton is a composition of quartz, glass and porcelain, which makes it resistant to scratches, heat and UV rays. Furthermore, unlike natural stone, its non-porous surface means it doesn’t require sealing, and spills can be wiped away with ease—making it both durable and low-maintenance; the perfect option for our client’s high traffic kitchen.
Seamless, Sleek Design
Dekton’s ability to create a seamless surface was a major selling point for our client. We designed a book-matched splashback, which enhanced the symmetry and added a striking visual element to the space. For the kitchen island, we sourced the largest piece of Dekton available, which certainly required careful handling! We achieved a flawless installation, with the waterfall edge creating a seamless flow from the worktop to the floor. We paired the surfaces with bespoke cabinetry and integrated appliances. To complement the surfaces, we added an antique brass tap and feature lighting, creating warmth and contrast to the sleek stone.
